When most people think of Hawaii, they envision a vacation paradise overflowing with scenic views of palm trees, majestic beaches, and ocean waves that provide a paradisiacal backdrop for relaxation, while complementing picture perfect sun sets. Beyond the radiant sun and swaying palm trees of Hawaii, native Pacific Islander Casey808 (formally called ACE) has brewed up a melting pot of exotic island urban hip-hop music that is ready to be served to the world. Born in Hilo, Hawaii, Casey received the guidance and knowledge necessary to develop and perfect his craft. His father, a local musician with an eclectic background in Rock and traditional Hawaiian music, helped fuel his passion and served as an impetus for him to branch out and create his own sound. Casey was influenced by emcees such as Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Juelz Santana, and fellow local Recording artists like Big Business Tonic Shotz ,and Dynomyte From sudden rush. He started rapping at the age of thirteen and by fifteen had won first prize at an M.C. Battle held at the Hilo Civic Center. This victory earned Casey a record deal with Talksicc Productions, and simultaneously a personal milestone was achieved when he defeated one of Hawaii’s top M.C.'s who was also one of the finalists. Casey would later go on to record 808 to the NYC which held first for four weeks straight on WILD 96.5. The success of winning gave Casey confidence and motivated him to further pursue his dreams.Desiring to increase his repertoire, Casey attended the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences to enhance his knowledge base. There he became certified in ProTools 210, Reason, Logic, Autotune, SSL’s G M & J series among others. Casey honed his musical abilities by working with a range of accomplished artists and producers. Some of whom include; Brian Kennedy (Producer for: Brandy, Rihanna, and Jesse McCartney) Baby Bash, Scoop Deville, Bun B, Sadat X, Shady Ray, Bizzy Bone, and The Stooie Brothers. These experiences helped shape Casey’s own creativity beyond the normal genres of music, and transformed it into a mix of Hawaiian flavor and party music and so was the birth of "Island urban music".What Casey has accomplished musically is nothing short of groundbreaking. The young M.C. has managed to help create a hip hop scene where one hardly ever existed. His involvement in urban culture has intrigued those who once looked past hip hop and now are influenced and moved by his style and music. However, it’s being the pioneer of a movement that keeps Casey grinding. Hawaii is now hoping to become the next “hot-bed” for hip hop and Casey has positioned himself as the link between the beautiful islands and the rest of the world. So as the palm trees sway and the trade-winds gently blow over the majestic beaches, say Aloha to the biggest thing out of Hawaii since Barack Obama.Casey!
